Yamatoa Shrimp (Amano)

    Caridina multidentata - These shrimp are translucent, excellent algae eaters and peaceful, growing to a larger size than the cherry shrimp.

    Native to Japan and Taiwan these busy little shrimp are very easy to care for and contribute to the aquarium ecosystem. The males tend to be smaller with a more elongated body and translucent colour. The females have a wider body (known as a saddle) and are more vibrant. These shrimp will not breed in the home aquarium as they require brackish water for breeding and raising their young but freshwater as they mature.

    Maximum size: 5cm

    Lifespan: 2-3 years

    Temperature: 22-28 degrees celsius 

    Tank requirements: Filter & Oxygen, Heater

    Tank Mates: Other small peaceful fish and other shrimp.

    Feeding: Good Quality Flake or Pellets
