Megalechis thoracata  -  These catfish have a long tan coloured body with noticeable plated scales from the back of their heads to their tails. They also have small black smudged dots across their bodies and fins.

Native to the majority of countries in South America, they are a charming addition to any larger community tank with larger bodied tetra such as black widows. These catfish are capable of breathing air which means they can adapt to a variety of conditions and prefer to live in groups. They tend to be more active during the night and can also be quite boisterous around feeding times so it's best to feed any timid fish in a separate area. Known to dig so prefer a soft substrate.
