Breed information
Amblydoras hancocki - These catfish are a schooling, peaceful catfish, they are roughly textured with bony scutes and are varying shades of brown in colour to help camouflage them.
Native to Brazil, Bolivia, Peru and Guyana, in the wild they emulate a leaf to avoid predators and will often burrow into the substrate. Hancock's cats are nocturnal, peaceful and prefer to live in groups. These catfish show remarkable survival skills in the wild, they are able to retain moisture and cross overland to reach water during droughts.
Important information regarding feeding: These catfish will generally only eat after dark so will need to be fed after the main tank lights have been turned off and their food should be a sinking pellet so they can sift the substrate.
