Geophagus steindachneri - These fish can vary in colour depending on their mood and can display blues, greens and black speckling in their iridescent scales or appear to have a bluish-yellow sheen on their sides. The depth of colour each fish displays is dependent on mood, position in the hierarchy and water quality. Mature males will develop a prominent nuchal hump.

Found in Colombia, these cichlids can be competitive with conspecifics. These particular fish are mouthbrooders and should be kept with robust but peaceful tank mates to mitigate their relative aggression around spawning time.
