Hoplarchus psittacus - These fish have a round body and prominent nuchal humps with a smaller head. They are a silvery gold colour predominantly with flashes of red across their bodies and through their fins.

Found in Brazil and Venezuela. Although classed as semi-aggressive, these fish tend to show most aggression during spawning times, they do prefer to live in matched pairs or alone but can live in a group with a large enough aquarium. They are not a community fish and would require a more specialised setup in order to thrive as they prefer higher temperatures and a well planted environment with soft acidic water.
